Route Information

Buses do not operate on a set time schedule.
Instead, they operate on a headway system with continuous, frequent service.
No need to learn complicated or confusing bus schedules…
…simply find the nearest bus stop and the next bus is never far away.

How frequently do the T buses run?

The Hill Route

Monday – Friday
7:00 am – 6:00 pm
Every 7 -10 minutes

Every 15 minutes in summer

The Fort Route

Monday – Friday
7:00 am – 6:00 pm
Every 10 minutes

(no summer service)

Neyland Express

Monday – Friday
7:00 am – 7:00 pm7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Every 8-10 minutes

Every 30 minutes
(every 10 minutes, Monday evenings only)

Late Nite

Sunday – Thursday
6:00 pm – 2:30 am
Friday – Saturday

Fall and Spring service – The T runs comprehensive service throughout the UT campus and portions of the Fort Sanders neighborhood with four fixed routes and two on-demand routes.

Summer service – The T runs limited service UT campus during the summer with one fixed route, one shuttle and two on-demand routes.

Service is fare-free for all passengers.


Accessible/Disability Options

(Also T: Link provides service till 7 am for all passengers after the Late Nite bus ends, so you always have a way to get where you are going)

T: Link

The T: Link operates nightly between 6:00 pm and 7:00 am.
No disability ID is required.
Wait times depend on call volume.

The T: Link transports students at night to their destination.

  • Request pickup through the UT mobile app’s transit icon or the TransLoc app. The blue circle will pop up to request On-Demand after 6:00 pm.
  • Call from any campus Blue Phone
  • Call the Link directly at 865-974-4080

The T: Link service area includes UT’s Main campus, Ag campus, and the Fort Sanders neighborhood to Grand Avenue (excluding the Cumberland Avenue Strip).

OnDemand passenger trip request systems available for The Link route. Access this service are via the UT app or download the TransLoc Rider app at the Apple Store or on Google Play store.

T: Access

The T: Access is a demand response service available to students with an Access ID card issued by the UT Student Disability Services (SDS).

Faculty or staff need to visit the Office of Equity and Diversity to get their Access ID card.

The T: Access operates on-demand, point-to-point service on UT’s main campus, Ag Campus, or UT facilities in the Fort Sanders neighborhood, weekdays from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm

After 6:00 pm, persons with disabilities may use the T: Link service.

Specialized Service to ORNL/PSCC or JIAM

(These do NOT run on holidays or breaks)
